Early Bird Ge-
Well, you know the saying. I’ve been going to the gym before work for over a year now. Woot! Woot! But that’s all about to change for a little while. My boss is out of town for a month and has divvied up her responsibilities between the therapy team. Unfortunately, she left the 9:00am daily meeting to me. Did I mention daily?! So, I’ll be switching up my workouts to the late afternoon and see how that works out for me.
Team Player
Orangetheory hosted partner workouts for the first time since since COVID shut gyms down. It should’ve been a really fun workout. Let the record show that I love being part of a team! You accomplish more, motivate one another, and have someone to make up for your weaknesses. I showed up very ready to take out other teams that day but I was partnered with someone who didn’t care for the challenge. So, I carried the team and felt kind of stuck in something I didn’t want to be in.
It was a bummer but I also left feeling like a weight had been lifted when I left the workout. In real life, we get to choose our partners and friends. It was a reminder to myself, and maybe you need this one too – cut ties with those that don’t push you to be better!
Summer Mornings
This is my season! It’s the one I look forward to all year long. Summer is just getting started and it’s the first week of 100° F+ temps, but I’m already feeling a little sad knowing it’ll end before I’m ready.
My favorite part this time of year? Summer mornings! I thoroughly enjoy my half hour commute to work in the suburbs when my sunroof is open and I get some fresh air moving through the car. Try it sometime 🙂
Making Time
People make time for things that are important to them. I’m a firm believer in that. Outside of work, gym, my animal, and my social obligations, there really isn’t much time left!
To add to that, I’m making it a priority to read through my GFI textbook right now. It’s weird being out of school but going thorough this process of learning again where I’m taking quizzes and a big exam at the end of all this. I can’t help but think of my NY resolutions from the previous 4 years and how I didn’t accomplish “reading more.” Likely because I didn’t care to make the time for it!
Here I am seemingly bursting at the seams of things to do and while so many things do matter to me, I’m finding it hard to do even important things. To do list as of now including but not limited to: getting new tires, sending invoices, responding to blog work emails, making in person returns, nails, laundry, sleep! It’s a lot but I’m working on it.
Two Years
It’s been that amount of time since Peewee’s passing. I don’t mean to count the time and maybe I’ll stop after this year, but I haven’t gotten over it. Just last month I had a big meltdown over the course of a couple of days because I miss him so much! And my old dog, Tito, too. I know I will never see either dog again and I’m still hurting over it.
Instead I try to focus on the rascal I do have, Luka. He’s full of energy, super silly, and is very loving. I love him back! My days are better with Luka. Did I mention he’s a rescue?! He is, and you can rescue your next fur friend too. ❤️
Stay tuned for the next 5 things. Are we liking this series? Leave a comment below if you do.
