My skin is suffering from a peel after a bad sunburn 2 weeks ago. It’s the most frustrating thing to see my tan legs with parts of my pale skin peeking through! Don’t get me wrong, I had a wonderful time at South Padre with my family, but maybe I shouldn’t have fallen asleep with a leg out of the shade. Ha! After a painful week of rubbing aloe and avoiding clothes with seams, I’m ready for smooth skin again.
I’m not sure about your routine, but I’m lazy and I only shave my legs once a week. Usually on Thursday so I can have a hairless weekend and have “woo girl” arms as much as I’d like without being self conscious. Anyway, here are my favorite products for my smoothest skin!
1) Sugar Scrub
Of all the body scrubs there are, a sugar scrub is my favorite. I can immediately feel a difference in how soft my skin feels after using this scrub. So much so that this used to be the only product I used before shaving!
2) Beauty Bar
I stopped using body wash and made the switch to using a beauty bar about a year ago. I found it to be an easy way to use less plastic and be more environmentally friendly. Dove’s Coconut Milk beauty bar smells amazing! I love coconut scent even though I don’t like coconut taste, and this bar does not disappoint! I also find the scent to be longer lasting on my skin than a body wash.
Another major change I made recently was to stop using a loofah. I have used one all my life and I wouldn’t have stopped if it weren’t for an esthetician’s advice. Every now and again I’ll get a back break out and she recommended this exfoliating cloth to remove the day’s oil and dead skin. It sounds gross putting it that way, but now I cannot live without my exfoliating cloth!
To be honest, the transition from loofah to exfoliating cloth was uncomfortable. The cloth felt like I was rubbing sandpaper on my skin! It also made me realize that the loofah was barely even cleaning my skin. A week later the cloth felt better and now I use it every time I shower. It’s the best exfoliator!
4) Shave Cream
For years I always thought shaving cream was so unnecessary. You could get by without it, but if you’re trying to get your smoothest skin, I’d say it’s a must! This particular shaving cream feels like lotion and has the creamiest consistency. It’s moisturizing ingredients like shea and cocoa leave my skin feeling so smooth.
5) Men’s Razor
The pink tax is the worst and there’s no way to avoid it, but I always feel a little more powerful buying men’s razors. At first I would only buy men’s razors to avoid the pink tax, but now I genuinely love them. Gillette’s men’s razors have 5 blades for the best shave ever! My favorite part is that the blades can be refilled instead of buying an entire pack of cheap women’s razors and having to toss it after every couple uses.
6) Cocoa Butter Lotion
Finally, at the end of all that I get to put on some lotion. This one is pretty light weight but if it’s winter I’ll go for a vaseline lotion or gold bond, all great choices!
