How to be a Good Friend to a Blogger

Do you remember my Fredericksberg girls trip? Maybe you don’t, but it was a blast! I didn’t know how much I needed the blogging community until that weekend getaway. It was a full weekend of photos and talks about instagram engagement, instagram posting, follower growth, sponsored content, and so much more. I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs, “finally, people who understand!”

Each girl, myself included, expressed some feeling of frustration and, dare I say, annoyance that very very good friends, best friends, friends we would go to the end of the world for do not “like” our instagram pictures. And yes, we do notice.

While some would like to make excuses for their friends such as, “they don’t know better,” or, “they don’t know how much time blogging actually takes,” I refuse to think my friends don’t have some sense. Here are a few tips for all friends of bloggers out there 🙂

Ask about my blog

Dear friend, so much time is spent editing photos and planning my feed. I manage a website, write for it, and then send posts to brands when a project is due. It’s something I’m proud of and it means so much to have this corner of the internet to myself. If we’re on the phone and I haven’t talked to you in a little while, just ask how the blog is going! Not trying to chat your ear off about it, I just want to know that you care enough to ASK.

Take 5 pictures

Dear friend, I loved taking pictures even before the blog. Not to post on Instagram or Facebook, but just to have a memory of the people I was with and the fun I had. I still want to take those pictures with you! However, I’m kind of low on content, my hair and make up is already done, and I’d love if you could take a picture of me by this cute wall.

Like my Instagrams

Dear friend, I planned out my pictures for the week, wrote my captions, and linked my clothes. I see you’re active on Instagram and posting stories, feel free to like my picture while you’re on the app. I post 5 times per week so I know I’m coming up in your feed either way.

Vote on my polls

Dear friend, I see you watching my stories! I’m so glad we’re able to keep up with each other even though I talk a lot about what I’m wearing. I already know you like white wine, but it would be sweet if you could vote red or white on my poll. It let’s me know you’re there!
