Fail Proof Resolutions, I think (+ 1 year UPDATE)

Happy New Year!

I thought about my resolutions a lot after failing all of mine from 2018 (an in-depth update on my failed resolutions here). I decided it was best for me not to make any, but like MLK, I had a dream. So here I am, writing about the resolutions I didn’t want, but dreamt about! I figured I should make myself something easy for this year. Here goes, 2019!

Be a better yogi

If you haven’t gathered from my Instagram or Instastories, I love yoga! I want to scream it from the top of all the rooftops. I started summer of 2018, and this year I want to be a better yogi. What does that mean? I have no idea. I want to practice more, be present, inhale the good and exhale the bad. My goal is to practice yoga 80% of 2019, which is 292 days of 365.

UPDATE: (Jan 2020) 80% would have been 24 days per month and I definitely didn’t keep up with that. I picked up climbing and acro-yoga in 2019 and that took away time from my personal practice.

Write everyday

I used to journal my thoughts and feelings, but I’m not interested in that type of writing anymore. I want to write about my day to remember what happened by writing one good thing and one bad thing that happened to me that day. This is a hard one, because when life gets hard, I don’t feel like putting more time into how tough things can be. And I already almost quit on myself on Janurary 4th! Haha I was in bed and the planner I write in was in the kitchen. Don’t worry, I grabbed it and wrote a few things down that day!

UPDATE: (Jan 2020) I actually did this one!!! I am proud of this right here! I have an entire years worth of memories, emotions, and random things jotted down. I don’t think I’ll go back and read it, but I am so glad I stuck to this. Keeping this one up in 2020!

Go to sleep on time

I started working my big girl SLP job (what I do for work here) this year. It’s my dream job! I am happy to be in a place and the space that I am in, but I have not been able to adjust my sleeping pattern. Work is very flexible, which is nice if I have an appointment to go to, but it’s not good when I take advantage and get to work at 8:30 (ok, sometimes 8:40). I would like to start going to sleep by 12am to wake up at 7am and be at work by 8am. I have twelve months, I think I can do it this year!

UPDATE: (Jan 2020) Absolute LOL at this resolution. Vivian, what were you thinking??? If you watch my daily car stories, you know I have been on the struggle bus with this resolution. As the year went on I inched closer to 9 and closer to 10 and now well past 10. I need help on this one! 2020 will be the year I make it in by 9am!

I hope you had a wonderful new year, and that you meet all your resolutions this year!

XO, Vivian
