Taking a look back at these photos to write this post brought back all the feel good feelings from April!
I apologize in advance if you’ve already heard this story on Instagram, but it’s one of my favorite stories to tell. Friendships are insanely hard, and finding this Swiss gal living in Chicago and connecting on a social media app sounds crazy even to me, and I’m the lucky one that experienced it.
We connected on Instagram close to two years ago when our blogs were fairly new. I couldn’t tell you who found who, but I’m pretty sure it was through hashtags. Gotta love them #hashtags! Lots of likes, comments, DMs later, I felt like I knew Bettina. She felt like she knew me enough to invite me to coffee on her next trip to Dallas. So there we sat, complete strangers but not strangers with so much to talk to each other about. I was sad to end our coffee date and I don’t even drink coffee!
Again, many months of likes, comments, DMs, and texts later, I planned a trip out to Chicago to meet my dear friend, Bettina. She was the most gracious host and planned everything that weekend which included plenty of photo opps at Cloud Gate, an incredible architecture tour with Shoreline Sightseeing, and more gorgeous views of the city from Signature Lounge.
Chicago was a short trip for me and I’m already thinking about going back to explore some more. Until then, check out Bettina’s in-depth post on Top 5 Things to do in Chicago.
I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. Have you made genuine connections through Instagram? I’ve made too many to count!
XO, Vivian
